“Never give up. Always have faith in whatever you believe in and give it your all every time, every chance you get because you’ll never get that moment back… That’s why I go by AGNB: All Gas No Brakes… Give it all and never stop… because you never know what can happen.”
CJ GABLE: Career History

CJ Gable attended Sylmar High School in Sylmar, California. By his sophomore season, he garnered attention for his play at free safety, as a junior, he had a total of 180 carries, 2,023 yards, 23 touchdowns; leading as the full-time running back. His senior season, he had a total of 202 carries, 2,086 yards, 27 touchdowns and came up just short of the school rushing record of 2,095 set by Ryne Carew in 2002. He is the only running back to rush for over 2,000 yards back to back in Sylmar High School history.

CJ Gable became the first freshman to ever start an opener as running back for USC when he started at Arkansas in 2006. During his college career he helped the Trojans win three straight Rose Bowls (2006-08) and became the first true freshman in school history to start a season opener at tailback. He ran a 4.68-second 40-yard dash in the summer of 2008. Gable competed for playing time at running back and kick returner as a sophomore in 2008. In 2009, he ran for 102 yards on 24 carries. Gable also returned 19 kicks for 348 yards in '09.

CJ Gable spent seven years in the Canadian Football League, four of them with the Hamilton Ticats (2013-2017), where he rushed for 2,372 yards and 17 touchdowns in 51 games. He played 85 CFL games throughout his career, registering 880 carries for 4,803 yards and 28 rushing touchdowns, along with 243 receptions for 2,225 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. He was named an East Division All-Star twice (2013, 2016) and was a runner-up for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie award in 2013.

CJ Gable played for Edmonton from 2017 to 2019 where he amassed 2,431 rushing yards and 11 TDs, including back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in his last two years.
Said Tommy Condell, offensive coordinator of the Tiger-Cats:
“He accumulated numerous ‘highlights’ throughout his career, but I loved watching when he had the ball in his hands. He could run around defenders, through them and even over them. C.J.’s team-first mentality made him a pleasure to coach and we wish him nothing but success.” Global News, Apr. 2021

Currently, CJ Gable is the head running back coach at St. Genevieve High School. Under his tutelage, his role with the St. Genevieve coaching staff led them to an undefeated victory for the 2021-2022 Football season. Gable is cited as saying,
"The five S’s of sports training are: stamina, speed, strength, skill, and spirit; but the greatest of these is spirit. I expect nothing but greatness, determination, and toughness from my running backs - point blank. All coaching is, is taking a player where he can’t take himself."

Retiring at 33 may have seemed young to most, but that signals a long career for running backs. Gable never forgets his roots, he continually thanks his trainer Billy Parra, and now mentor, Head Coach at St. Genevieve High School, for getting him in great shape.
“I really thank him for that. He was there from the beginning," Gable said. "When nobody was helping me, he was there. He made my career last long.”
